The magic of art continuously moves me in the colors, shapes, lines, natural elements found in our everyday life. My art is a portrayal of the fluid movement in the calmness of it all.

I paint abstract to invoke freedom, express myself beyond lines, figurative forms, or confined spaces. Abstraction describes humanity better than any creative form. We are beautifully complicated, unpredictable, unbounded, and unique.

Before starting a painting, I have no idea how it will turn out. I love the idea of endless possibilities portrayed on canvas based on raw emotion.

About the Artist

Celene is a contemporary, self-taught reflective artist who uses painting as a catalyst to portray her inner voice. Her intuitive colors interchange with life’s seasons and uses various mixed media to capture her audience with calming fluidity. Her paintings are coined as soothing, and mediums consist of acrylics, oil, charcoal, metal leaf, oil pastels, and she is continually experimenting with current creative forms. She is a first-generation American of Mexican and Spanish descent that transforms colors into a unique painting that will reside and speak to you in your home and heart. Her artwork is inspired by family, friendships, immersing in other cultures, marrying in Barcelona, nature, ocean scapes, fellow artists, and traveling.

Celene's other passion is writing. As she describes, her art and words are her muse. Her writings are transparent, raw, vulnerable, romantic, inspiring, and relatable. She enjoys composing poetry for her paintings to give them a personal touch and a narrative of their own through her eyes.

Since living in Orange County, she has exhibited throughout Southern California, including in Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Santa Ana, San Juan Capistrano, Mission Viejo, and Winter Festival at Sawdust in Laguna. She has been commissioned for commercial and residential artwork.

Celene is represented by The Grace Galleries and LagunaArt.com, is a member of LagunaArt.com, SCA (Southern California Artist Association), founder of Dear Inner Palette, a writers' feature page on Instagram, and has a Master’s in Industrial / Organizational Psychology. She recently decided to leave her full-time position in the legal field to pursue and live her passion for painting and writing and lives in Newport Beach with her husband and two Frenchie puppies, Mack and Luna.

Celene's is creatively stirred by other artists, including O'Keefe, Van Gogh, Kahlo, Monet, Rothko, Picasso, and Matisse. Celene has visited her favorite artist, Georgia O’Keeffe's museum in Santa Fe, and her home museum in Abiquiu, New Mexico. She also draws inspiration from visiting an array of artwork in world-renowned museums, MoMA in New York City, the Museum of Chicago Art, New York, the Louvre Museum in Paris, Reina Sofia in Madrid, Musée d’Orsay, and Château Versailles in France. She enjoys speaking and learning other languages, like Italian and French.
